Why a Sleep Routine Is Important

When was the last time that you had a good night sleep, like a really deep dreamy sleep?

As I put my son to bed I was thinking all the little things we do with him to prepare him for a restful night sleep and one of our staples is incorporating essential oils into his bedtime routine.

We seem to be transitioning often, whether that’s transitioning into seasons (wasn’t it just summer?) or transitioning in life, sleep is important. For that reason I wanted to share with you our sleep routine.

We start our sleep routine off with an Epson Salts bath with Serenity Essential Oils (2-4 drops) in the bath with about a half a cup of Epson salts and soak in that for about 20 minutes

After bath we give him a relaxing massage with body lotion enriched with shea butter and infused with Lavender, Roman Chamomile and Vanilla. This is his favorite part, I mean who don’t love a massage?!

His favorite  Whale Diffuser is set up in his bedroom. We diffuse 2-3 drops of doTERRA essential oils and turn it on or about 30 minutes before bed. Some of our favorite blends are Cedarwood + Lavender or if he’s feeling congested Easy Air + Serenity.  We also roll essential oils & fractionated coconut oil on the bottoms of his feet like OnGuard, Lavender + Frankincense or Easy Air.

After Storytime, we tuck him in & send him off to dreamland.

This oil routine can be incorporated for anyone in the family including you!
