Walking Ancestral Paths: A Healing Journey

I had the opportunity recently to visit the land my ancestors inhabited.
This journey was not just a visit — it was a calling, a sacred return to the earth and stories that have shaped me.

I’ve been here many times, yet this time felt different, an invitation to connect and explore the land and feel the presence of those who walked before me
The path beneath my feet was more than dirt — it was a thread connecting me across generations.

I learned that this land was home to six generations before me. Many worked from this land to provide food, shelter and a way of being to their families.
On this land there are remnants of the original homestead as well as other prominent markings of foundations that once housed families from the past.

As I stepped forward, the wind carried a message that touched my soul deeply,
“We’ve been waiting for you.”

These invisible threads woven through each of us call to us through the breeze, in the trees and within the fields.
It’s a feeling, a knowing where no words are needed, only presence.

In my soul work on this earth, I’m a space holder for remembrance, for healing, for presence that flows through sacred spaces.
As I walked along, I felt the call to release outdated feelings and family patterns and call for peace for these lands.

Peace for the families past, present and future.

I gathered flowers from these fields as a sign of peace, not quite knowing what to do with them just yet…
I learned that two brothers once lived on these lands and, on the East Coast, we have a saying, “they didn’t see eye to eye.”
Part of this work was to heal these wounds and bring peace to them and their families.

In healing the land and its stories, I also tend to the unseen wounds within myself and my lineage — I knew intuitively that this was timely and held with such grace.
I often say, when we heal, the world heals. Ancestral healing has a ripple effect across time.
It’s not something we can necessarily see with our physical eyes, it’s felt deep in our bones and soul.

As my walk was coming to a close, I still held this beautiful bouquet of wildflowers, still unsure of what I was meant to do with them, yet I knew they were symbolic.
I came upon the original homestead and immediately received the guidance to lay the flowers on the foundation as a sign of forgiveness and peace.

This experience was deeply profound for me and my ancestors.
I’m honoured and grateful for being guided to walk this healing path.

An Invitation for You:

What ancestral stories or energies are calling you to presence and healing?
How might you create a sacred ritual or offering to honour your lineage and invite peace?

If you feel called, take a moment now to close your eyes and breathe deeply.
Invite any messages, images, or feelings from your ancestors to come forward.
Journal or reflect on what wants your attention, your compassion, your healing.

May we all find the courage to walk our ancestral paths, bringing light, healing, and peace to the past, present, and future.
